It is with great sadness that we learnt the news of the passing of Shelagh James. She and her husband John have been active and dedicated members of the Labour Party for many years.
Shelagh was a much-loved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She died peacefully in her sleep on the morning of Thursday 14th May.
A long time pacifist and campaigner, she will be much missed by John, her family, her many friends and comrades, both inside and outside the Labour Party.
There will be a small private cremation at Haycombe, followed by a larger celebration of her life later in the year.
In tribute to the ever-lovely, friendly, kind, compassionate, principled, egalitarian, fun, justice-campaigner Shelagh James. She will be long remembered & cherished in the hearts of all who knew her. Shelagh’s fantastic openness & welcome contributed to me becoming a Quaker over 30 years ago.
