The CCG (Clinical Commissioning Group), responsible for allocating funding for health services in B&NES, are having to make savings of £11.6 million in 2017/18 because of inadequate funding for a growing population.
One proposal is to limit access to IVF and stop vasectomy and sterilization services saving just £200,000
IVF - They want to reduce the maximum age from 40 to 35, restrict funding to just one cycle, further restrictions that go against national guidelines.
Vasectomy/Sterilization – They want to end the funding completely.
Is there a new type of NHS being ushered in – shrunken, limited, a safety net for only the most severe cases?
