This is an update from the campaign of Amber Weston, our candidate for the Walcot by-election.
Our residents in Walcot, and those in Bath, will be supporting her campaign through traditional canvassing as well as promoting her work through social media.

Amber Weston - A New Voice for Walcot
Amber is 22 years old and has lived in Bath all her life, so she knows how hard it is for young people in our city to afford to stay here when they leave home. Amber works for a major retailer as a store trainer, supporting staff in implementing new technology. She is also a member of USDAW. In her spare time Amber enjoys walking the family dog, Marley, and watching live music.
Amber opposes the proposed Park and Ride east of the city. She supports the introduction of clean air zones for the London Road and across the city.
Clean Air For Walcot
Bath’s A4 route have been called a ’corridor of death’ because vehicles are spewing out nitrogen dioxide (NO2) levels well beyond the legal limit. Along with ‘particulate’ emissions from diesel engines in cars, vans, coaches and trucks, NO2 can cause or trigger:
- heart and lung problems, including cancer.
- asthma and permanent lung impairment especially in children.
- repeated colds and coughs by disrupting the sensitive linings of the respiratory tract.
Pollution levels along the London Road have been at or near 50% over the legal limit for over ten years! B&NES council’s ‘Air Quality Management Area’ has done nothing to cut this pollution. We need a Clean Air Zone to control the types of vehicles entering. UK cities like Birmingham and York are planning such Clean Air Zones. Why not Bath?
